New underwater industrial-grade ROV from Chasing

 

Chasing is continually advancing its line-up of underwater drones, catering to both industrial and consumer needs. These drones excel in various applications, including underwater photography, hull and dock inspection, monitoring fish aquaculture, and facilitating underwater emergency rescue operations. Today, they introduce a new version of Chasing M2, the new Chasing M2S.

 

The New Chasing M2s has the same butterfly design as the other ROV in M2 series but in a more portable and compact body which facilitates single-person operation and quick deployment. The symmetrical vector layout of the eight thrusters, adopts a design where translation and rotation are independent of each other that supports 360-degree omnidirectional movement and improves posture response speed and control stability. The streamlined design of the butterfly wing outline at the front and rear helps to protect the propellers.

The drone is equipped with the third-generation Apex Anti-stuck C-Motor 3.0 which uses a unique anti-stuck solution and a magnetic protection technology that simultaneously ensures power supply but also greatly reduces electrochemical corrosion and aggregation rust caused by motor wear.

It is powered by a 97.68Wh battery that can keep the drone in operation for up to 4 hours. An optional 200Wh backup battery can also be added to ensure long time operation.

 

M2S can dive to a maximum depth of 100 meters and has an operating radius of 200 meters or 400 meters with an extendable cable. To help maintain altitude and direction, Chasing has developed its own steering system, NeptuneX. The system uses the Kalman inertial navigation depth observation technology to help minimize the impact of ocean waves, ensuring a consistent depth. This significantly enhances the ROV's ability to withstand vertical flow resistance.

 

The drone can record movies in 4K resolution and take pictures with 12 megapixels with a 1/2.3 Sony CMOS sensor. The lighting is done with 2 x 2000lm LEDs that are mounted in a way that minimizes disturbing reflections from debris and particles in the water.

This together with Chasing's own developed algorithm, Aquavision, which analyzes underwater light, physical light and environment together with a visual identification and tracking system boost the image quality and produces an image with great clarity and reduced color layering.

 

Depending on the mission, the M2S, like its predecessors, can be equipped with a wide range of accessories such as a grabber arm, distance lock sonar, laser scaler, floodlights etc, as well as many third-party accessories such as GoPro.
