Tamron announces Tamron Link, a compact Bluetooth accessory that attaches to the lens barrel and enables wireless communication between compatible Tamron lenses and a smartphone running Tamron Lens Utility Mobile. Once connected, photographers and videographers can adjust lens settings directly from the phone screen without touching the lens or running cables to a laptop.
Tamron Link is particularly useful in video production, where physical access to the lens is often restricted by rigs, gimbals, or camera cages. With wireless control, operators can jump between preset focus and aperture positions using the Marker Link function, set ring rotation angles, and lock rings electronically to prevent unintentional movement. The accessory communicates via Bluetooth, keeping the setup cable-free and reducing clutter on set.
With the launch of Tamron Link, Tamron Lens Utility Mobile now supports iOS in addition to Android, making wireless lens control available across both major platforms.
Alongside Tamron Link, Tamron releases an update to its lens control software, moving from Ver. 4.0 to Ver. 5.0. The update adds new features for both mobile and PC.
