Laowa introduces a new and updated 12mm f/2.8 Lite Zero-D FF, a new full-frame mirrorless lens designed for photographers who need ultra-wide coverage without the bulk. This compact and lightweight lens offers an ultra-wide 122° angle of view with Laowa’s signature “Zero-D” optical design, which ensures minimal distortion without the need for digital correction.
This new model builds on the success of the original Laowa 12mm, now reimagined to suit modern mirrorless systems. Weighing only 377g (Sony E mount), the lens is easy to carry and ideal for landscape, travel, street, and drone photography. Autofocus is available for Sony E and Nikon Z mounts, offering fast and accurate focus for a smoother shooting experience.
With a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, the lens performs well in low light and allows for creative depth-of-field control. A close focusing distance of just 14cm opens up unique wide-angle macro-style possibilities, while a 5-blade aperture design creates striking 10-point sunstar effects, an appealing feature for landscape photographers. Optical construction consists of 16 elements in 9 groups.
The built-in 72mm filter thread adds flexibility for using ND and CPL filters without adapters, a rare feature for ultra-wide lenses of this type. Compared to its predecessor, the new Lite version is not only more compact, but also delivers improved corner sharpness and overall image quality.
