Kowa introduces the SV III binocular series, a redesigned range for nature observation.
The SV III builds on the Kowa SV II series with a more compact design, lower weight, improved comfort, and a wider field of view across the range. It is made for people who want to get closer to nature, whether watching birds in the garden, exploring a local nature reserve or hiking. Binoculars reveal details often missed by the naked eye, making outdoor observation more rewarding.
A wider view for easier observation
One of the key updates in the SV III series is the wider field of view. This makes it easier to find and follow birds, wildlife, and moving subjects. It also gives the user a more open and natural viewing experience, especially when observing in parks, forests, or urban green spaces.
The SV III 8x32 offers a field of view of 152 m at 1000 m, while the SV III 10x32 offers 117 m at 1000 m. The larger 42 mm models offer 126 m at 1000 m for the 8x42 and 122 m at 1000 m for the 10x42.
Clear, natural viewing
The SV III binoculars feature fully multi-coated optics to deliver a bright, crisp, and natural image with good contrast and detail. Kowa’s KR protective coating helps repel dust, dirt, and moisture from the outer lens surfaces, making the binoculars easier to clean and helping protect the lenses during everyday use.
The body is compact and lightweight, with improved rubber armour, newly designed silicone eye-cups, an easy-grip focus wheel, and an improved tripod mount cap.
All models are waterproof and nitrogen filled, making them suitable for outdoor use in changing weather conditions.
The 32 mm models are the most compact and lightweight choice. They are ideal for travel, everyday walks, city birding, and users who want a binocular that is easy to pack and carry. The SV III 8x32 weighs 485 g and the SV III 10x32 weighs 475 g.
The 42 mm models are the best choice for users who want a brighter view, especially in lower light such as early morning, late afternoon, or shaded woodland. They are still compact and easy to handle, while offering the advantage of larger objective lenses. The SV III 8x42 weighs 545 g and the SV III 10x42 weighs 555 g.
For most new birders and general nature users, 8x magnification gives a wider, steadier view that makes it easier to find and follow subjects. The 10x models offer more magnification for users who want extra detail at longer distances.
