Kite Optics expands its APC Stabilized 50 ED series with a new 22x magnification model. The APC 22x50 ED AA is the highest-powered stabilized binocular currently available and brings observation performance previously reserved for tripod-mounted spotting scopes into a handheld, two-eyed instrument weighing approximately one kilogram.
Leave the tripod at home
At 22x magnification with image stabilization, the APC 22x50 delivers a level of detail that overlaps directly with the working range of compact spotting scopes. The difference is practical. A spotting scope requires a tripod, offers only monocular viewing, and takes time to set up. The APC 22x50 is ready the moment it reaches the eyes. Observers can track moving subjects, scan across wide terrain, and maintain depth perception through binocular vision, all at a magnification previously impractical without a stable support.
Kite Optics' proprietary KT 3.0 image stabilization system, powered by the second-generation KDGS-2 gyro sensor platform, compensates for hand tremor in real time. At 22x, even small movements are amplified significantly, and the stabilization system is what makes this magnification usable without a tripod. The correction angle is 2 degrees.
Powered by AA batteries
The APC 22x50 ED AA runs on two standard AA batteries. AA cells are available virtually everywhere, from fuel stations to supermarkets, in any country. A fresh set can be swapped in within seconds, with no dependency on charging infrastructure or power banks. For extended trips into remote areas, a few spare batteries in the pack are all it takes.
Optics and construction
The optical system uses ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements with Kite Optics' MHR Advance+ multi-layer coatings, achieving 86 percent light transmission. Chromatic aberration is effectively minimized across the field, producing a sharp, high-contrast image even at the edges. FOV is 54m at 1000m.
The body is rated IPX7 waterproof, withstanding submersion to one metre depth. Internal optics are sealed and nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging. The operating temperature range spans from -20 to +55 degrees Celsius. Just like other binoculars in the APC series, the APC 22x50 comes with a 30-year warranty, including the electronic stabilization system.
