High performance video with Panasonic Lumix GH7
Panasonic continues to innovate and expand its line-up of their video-oriented GH cameras with the introduction of the new Panasonic Lumix GH7.
Since the introduction of the Panasonic GH4 in 2014, the first mirrorless system camera capable of 4K, Panasonic's GH models have been the number one camera of many creative professionals.
Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the new GH7 is a powerful hybrid camera with outstanding video capabilities in a sleek and portable design and offers high-quality still image capture for professional creators who need versatile video and still image capabilities in a single camera.
The new camera features a newly developed 25.2MP BSI CMOS sensor with over 13 stops of dynamic range for more accurate color reproduction, detailed tonal levels and effective noise handling.
The image stabilizer is a powerful compensation even at slower shutter speeds and can provide up to 7.5 stops of stabilization and includes several advanced features, including the ability to compensate for more severe camera shake that can occur during running and shooting.
The new improved PDAF autofocus, makes it easy to detect, identify, focus and track a variety of subjects.
Despite its compact size, the new Lumix GH7 comes packed with new and innovative video features usually only seen in larger cameras. With the new camera users can now make internal recordings in 5.7K 30p ProRes 422 HQ and ProRes RAW HQ (CFExpress). A proxy file that is linked with the original video recording can be simultaneously recorded and helps to speeds up data transfer, editing, and other post-production processes.
The camera offers flexible framing when shooting in 5.8K open gate, which makes it easy to get get all the aspect ratios from one shot.
Thanks to an innovative design which uses graphite with high thermal conductivity to exhaust heat throughout the magnesium alloy body and a cooling fan Panasonic have managed to minimize heat generation inside the camera, allowing for longer recording times without overheating problems.
With the innovative design users can get unlimited video recording when shooting in C4K/60P.
Just like the recently released S9, the GH7 also comes with a Real Time LUT function that allows users to load original LUT files and apply new color looks directly to videos and photos. This feature makes it easier to get an idea of the final result, and the camera can store up to 39 different LUT´s. The new camera is also seamlessly integrated with Frame.io Camera to Cloud platform for editing still images and videos. By connecting the camera to the internet via Wi-Fi or USB tethering, you can automatically upload images and proxy videos directly to Frame.io. This allows editors and collaborators to access footage and images instantly, streamlining the production and post-production process for more efficient content creation.
In conjunction with the release of the GH7, Panasonic are also releasing the DMW-XLR2 microphone adapter which, when used with the new camera, gives the user the world's first 32-bit audio float recording (for dslr). This means that you have almost endless possibilities in post to get a perfect sound even if you record in a noisy environment.
