Why Is Auto Fill Ferrellgas’ Most Convenient Delivery Program?

Why does Ferrellgas recommend new customers sign up for Auto Fill and remind existing customers of the program's significant benefits when speaking with them throughout the year? 

The reasons are simple. 

Auto Fill is the program through which Ferrellgas monitors customer tank usage and provides automatic deliveries when customers are in need of a fill. Our delivery estimates include daily heating degree day calculations, the square footage of the space being heated by propane, the number of gas-burning appliances, and the number of people who live there, among other factors. 

There’s no need for these customers to make a cold and potentially long walk to their propane tank to check the tank percentage or call Ferrellgas to schedule their next delivery. Ferrellgas will do so automatically throughout the year, including and especially the bone-chilling winter months. 

Monitoring the tank’s percentage is an important responsibility of customers who choose to participate in our Will Call program. Ferrellgas will not deliver propane to Will Call customers until they call and request a delivery. We ask that customers give us a minimum of seven (7) days business notice not call with less than seven (7) business days notice prior to the date they anticipate needing propane, or when their tank reach 30%. If they call with less than seven (7) business days notice, or when their tank level is below 30%, we may not be able to meet their schedule.

“Not surprisingly, winter is the busiest time of year in the propane business,” Ferrellgas' Retail Vice President of Operations Tim Sayers said in a September 22, 2022, press release, “It’s when those who use propane as a primary heat source in their home consume the most. Winter weather can change at a moment’s notice, and we don’t want our customers to be in a situation where they may wait too long to request a fill.”
