Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is here! As you open the windows for a little fresh air, you’re probably thinking about doing some spring cleaning. Now is a great time to take a walk in your yard and check out your propane tank.

You’ll also want to brush up on your propane safety knowledge. You can download a copy of our propane safety brochure here, or contact Ferrellgas for a physical copy. It never hurts to familiarize yourself with how your propane system works, and what you should do in case there’s a leak. Ferrellgas takes safety seriously, and we want you to, too.

Sometimes, debris like dry leaves and brush can build up around the tank during the winter. We at Ferrellgas encourage you to remove anything that may be combustible from the 10 feet surrounding your propane tank. Make sure the path leading to your tank is clear, too. It’ll help our Drivers safely make your next propane delivery.

Check your tank for any visible damage or leaks. If something doesn’t seem right, contact Ferrellgas. We’ll be happy to come out and inspect your propane system to be sure it is running at optimum efficiency. You may also want to consider getting a trained professional to inspect your propane-powered appliances if you haven’t used them since last fall.

You’ll also want to check under your tank’s dome for any pests, including insects, snakes, or other small creatures. That metal lid makes a great place for them to hide over the winter, and they love building nests there in the spring. You don’t want any surprise guests the next time you schedule a fill!

Speaking of fills, consider topping off your propane tank now. As the weather warms up, demand for propane decreases. Now is a great time to fill up your tank. It’ll give you peace of mind because before you know it, fall will be here again, along with cooler temperatures.

Spring brings warmer weather, and if you’re planning to do any landscaping or construction this season, call 811 before you dig into the ground. They’ll be able to help you determine if you have any utility lines running underground, so you don’t accidentally cut into them.

While you’re outside, pay attention to where you store your Blue Rhino grilling tanks. Never store them inside. That includes the shed in your backyard and your garage. Instead, find a cool, shady spot in your yard away from your home. Remember, your safety is our chief concern.
