Winter weather is coming, and Ferrellgas is asking our customers to make sure there’s a clear path to their propane tank prior to any scheduled delivery. We’re also asking customers to mark their tank with a flag or stake, especially if it’s underground. If access to a tank is blocked, our drivers may not be able to safely and successfully deliver propane to a customer when winter weather hits.
We recognize that it’s not always easy for people with age or physical limitations to shovel snow or break up ice. It’s a lot of work! If you have any health concerns, ask your doctor if it’s safe for you to shovel.
If you do plan to shovel your driveway yourself, experts recommend that you do some light warm-up exercises before heading out, dress in layers, and keep up with the snowfall. Be sure to take breaks and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Choose a good snow shovel, and always push rather than lift the snow.
We want all our customers to stay safe this winter and encourage anyone who may need assistance to ask for help! Many communities and local governments run so-called Snow Angel programs. These programs go by many names, including Winter Warriors, Snow Squads, etc. Regardless of what they’re called, the concept is the same. Volunteers offer to shovel a neighbor’s driveway or sidewalk, so they don’t have to. Some of these programs are run on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s important to get on an organization’s list early so they can properly allocate their resources to make sure everyone is covered. Ferrellgas’ Customer Service team has information on some Snow Angel programs, but it is up to the individual customer to find their local resource and get signed up. Some churches have volunteers who will also help with clearing snow.
Alternatively, you can hire a snow removal service. Many landscaping companies shift to snow removal work in the winter months. The crew that delivers mulch to your home every spring may be able to clear your driveway in the winter! We recommend contacting the Better Business Bureau to find qualified, reliable snow removal professionals near you.
And don’t forget your neighbors! People in tight-knit communities often look out for each other. It doesn’t hurt to ask one of your neighbors to help you clear a path to your propane tank or shovel your driveway. Many are happy to do it to ensure that their fellow neighbors stay safe.
